Track and Field
Nico Perrino

On any given Thursday, you might have a celeb sighting, like John Mayer eating at Champs in Columbus
The day has been mostly uneventful for us Hoosier track and field athletes. We had a short stop at the hotel after our bus ride from Bloomington to drop off all of our stuff and change before we headed to the track to shake out and get those of us not familiar with Ohio State’s track acclimated to it.
Upon arriving at the track we were not alone; Minnesota, Illinois, and Wisconsin were also at the track working out, and it was nice to see all the athletes, who in less than 48 hours will be competing against each other, get along and mingle in a laid back atmosphere.
After spending about an hour and a half at the track the team hopped back onto the bus and headed back to the hotel to shower, change, and get ready to take the bus to get some food for dinner. Some members of the team ate at Bravo!, some at Bob Evans, and some at Champs, all of which were located in some distant commercial area far removed from the Ohio State campus.
For those who ate at Champs, they were lucky enough to spend the evening dining with John Mayer who also happened to be eating at Champs in Columbus at the same time as some members of the team. The John Mayer sighting became the talk of the team on the bus ride back to the hotel (a picture was actually taken, much to the displeasure of John), causing a lot of excitement among some of the bigger John Mayer fans on the team.
All together, Thursday, as it often is with weekend meets, has been a day to relax and prepare ourselves for what is expected to be a weekend of tough competition, with not much actually going on. I myself, after getting back from dinner, crashed at about 9pm. Some members of the team hung out, while others tried to catch up on sleep or prepare themselves for competition tomorrow.
The meet begins tomorrow evening starting with the 10k and the Decathlon, and runs all the way through Sunday, ending at 3:45pm with the Men’s 4×400. The meet will be televised by The Big-Ten Network on Tape-Delay, airing for the first time May, 24.
Stay tuned tomorrow as I chronicle the first actual day of competition, and the team trip to see Angels and Demons (A movie review I dare say?).
