Softball in the midwest continues to gain ground on the tradition-based Big 12 and Pac 10 conferences. The selection committee awarded three B10 teams (Michigan, Ohio State, and Northwestern) a top-12 seed or better, while another three teams (Iowa, Illinois, and Purdue) will also make travel arrangements.
