Somewhere out there, the Miami tennis teams from 1957-1964 are getting nervous. Penn State women’s volleyball inched closer to the Hurricanes’ all-time consecutive wins record for any collegiate team with a clean sweep of ninth-ranked Cal in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament Saturday.
Senior Megan Hodge was named the Gainesville Regional MOP and Arielle Wilson, Alisha Glass, and Blair Brown joined her on the All-Regional team as the Nittany Lions cruised to a 25-18, 25-17, 25-22 win over the Bears. The Nits now advance to the Final Four in Tampa and will face the winner of a match between Hawai’i and Big Ten foe Michigan.
Currently, Penn State ranks second all-time on the NCAA consecutive wins list, now totaling 100 in a row. The Miami men’s tennis team they’re chasing won 137 straight in the late 50’s and early 60’s.
